Paws for Freedom
Each year the bear cubs we raised are released back to the wild in June when they would naturally leave their mother and food is usually plentiful. As we accept bears from all over BC that means a lot of traveling to return them to their region of origin. Cost that arise from this are gas, oil changes, lodging and food for drivers as well as when possible the costs of radio collars to facilitate post release monitoring.
In a bid to raise some of these costs we created this event that will enable people to sponsor a part or full cost of a bear release.
In 2024 one hundred and twenty four young bears are rearing to go and conquer the world. You can sponsor one paw towards freedom or 4 paws for a full bear. As costs vary depending on travel distances, we figured out an average cost to release a black bear.
